Penstemon Rocky Mountain Blue

The Penstemon Rocky Mountain Blue, ‘Penstemon strictus’, has elegant bluish purple spikes of tubular flowers that lend a touch of formality to the dry flower garden. Rocky Mountain Penstemon enhances the garden twelve months of the year. The exquisite blue flower spikes are followed by graceful seed pods. In winter, evergreen basal rosettes turn from green to reddish purple, shrugging temperatures well below zero. Rocky Mountain Blues start blooming during the first hot days of early summer and continue for several weeks.

Penstemon prefer full sun and light shade. Water regularly and do not over fertilize. Plant in the spring, 3 to 4 weeks before the last average frost date or in late fall. The Rocky Mountain Blue are used for wildflower plantings, borders and as cut flowers. They also attract butterflies.

Real Blue Morpho Butterfly Framed and Mounted in Black Display

The Morpho didius is a beautiful species of the Nymphalidae Morphidae tribe, most commonly known for the blue iridescence on the front of their wings. The beauty on their front side overshadows the beauty of the back sides of the wings which are patterned with oscelli circles giving the illusion of eyespots. These are self defense mechanism patterns that ward off predators by making them feel outnumbered or in the case of the stronger more confident predators, deterring them into attacking the wings as opposed to the body

Product Features

  • This is one of the 27 different species of beautiful blue Morphos from the Amazon
  • This Black wood frame is 6.5″ x 7.25″ with double pane glass on the front and back
  • Unlike with Riker Mounts, the double pane glass allows you to see both the front and back sides of the butterfly
  • Take a look at how different and amazing the front and back sides of the Morpho didius are
  • Includes a very interesting, page long summary on facts and the history of the Blue Morpho in human society

Height:35″

Spread: 18-24″

Product Features

  • Name: Iris Tectorum (blue)
  • Quantity: 200 Bulk Seeds
  • Type: Annual
  • Soil Preference: The most critical growing factor is the moisture level of the soil and drainage. Bearded Irises will absolutely not tolerate “wet feet” (too much water will cause the rhizomes to rot) and require very well-drained soil at all times of the year.
