Creating Your Very Own Butterfly Garden

Do you know what butterfly gardening is? Butterfly gardening is when you grow all different types of plants and flowers that attract beautiful colorful butterflies to your garden. If you really want to impress you friends and family, create one of these magical gardens but remember to always make a safe environment for your new friends.

Before creating this beautiful garden there are some items you will want to take into consideration such as cats, dogs, or any other animal that could potentially hurt the butterflies you are attempting to attract because you don’t want them to get hurt simply because you’ve decided to create a wonderful garden for them.

When designing your butterfly garden, this will be determined solely on your personal preference. You will always want to start with the size of the garden as well as the kind of plants and flowers you’ll want to grow. You’ll want something that you will enjoy, but at the same time you will want to choose the plants and flowers the butterflies will enjoy as well.

If you aren’t sure which plants and flowers will be the best to attract your colorful friends, you can always take a trip to your local nursery or library to find the specific plant types that work the best. In order to really make the environment enviting, you will need to create some type of bird bath on a post as wellĀ  because butterflies love water and this will make for a better enironment. This will also help to keep the butterlies off the low lying areas where preditors can catch them bathing and soaking up the sun on their new found flowers.

When you get ready to plant your butterfly garden, make sure you coordinate the flower colors in a way that looks nice in your flowerbed. Butterflies don’t really care about your color arrangement but you don’t want your garden to look as though it were something simply thrown together either. Choosing flowers that contain nectar such as Lavender, Lilies, Yellow Sage, Daisies, and Valerian are better than plants or flowers that contain pollen.

The best way to go about arranging your flower colors is to draw out the actual garden layout with the type of plants and flowers you’ve decided to use. Always remeber that flowers with colors like orange, red, and yellows have a huge impact on all the greenery in the garden. Purples and blues are extremely cool and really soothing, and they will allow your garden to look really nice as well as attract all the butterflies your butterfly garden can hold.
