Reasons to Buy Live Butterfly Kits

The butterfly kits are made from mesh and so there is no way the caterpillar or butterfly will be able to get out on its own. Kids would therefore be able to get as close to the butterflies as they wish and take in their real and natural beauty.

It is also a great project to keep kids occupied during the winter months when they do not have many places to go and can become bored very quickly. Having a live butterfly kit at home would mean they have something real to look forward to after school, rather than just be sat in front of the television.

There are a number of sizes of butterfly kits available, and so you should think carefully about what sort of project you are after. All the packs will provide you with a batch of caterpillars, enough food to keep them growing properly, a mesh cage and easy instructions that even your child will be able to follow with no problem.

The mesh enclosure has an easily accessible zip attached to get butterflies into it and also (if you wanted to) release them once they have fully formed into butterflies. You will also get a coloring page which you can use to color the butterfly you have grown, so you have a souvenir which you will be able to keep as a reminder of the experience.

A live butterfly kit is the best way to monitor the life cycle of the butterfly and can be bought at any time of the year. The great advantage of this is that it acts as an interesting winter project to keep kids entertained during the cold and rainy months, when there is not much for them to do.

There are also butterfly kits designed especially for schools. They will be adequately sized, usually containing 30 caterpillars, so most, if not all, students will be able to have one that they can call their own. With the easy instructions each kit comes with, even a teacher who has never done anything of this sort before will have no problem setting it up and helping their students look after them.

A nice exercise to do is that if it is warm enough, once the butterflies are fully grown, the children can go outdoors and release the butterflies into the wild. This, in itself, will act as a great learning curve for kids and will help them understand that butterflies need to be out in the open air. It will also help them learn about separation and how sometimes it is a good thing. The temperature outdoors must however be at least 50 degrees in order to do this. Otherwise, the butterflies can remain in the butterfly mesh kits and children will be able to see them every day and feel pride in knowing that they played a part in their development.
